How do you identify; physical, e or audio?
Books that is.
Me, I am 100% strictly physical books, thank you very much. It’s such a great contrast to my online life that I relish falling into a good book as often as I can.
I’m sure that I’ve read somewhere too that reading from a page enhances retention of the material. Given I prefer non-fiction that’s a bonus.
I’ve surprised myself a little by reading 3 books in 3 weeks so far in 2023. I’d love to share them with you, and I’m happy to recommend any of them if the subject matter is up your alley:
📕Buddhism For Busy People – David Michie
I have had this book for so many years that I found a bookmark inside that my (now 16 yo) daughter had made me with a drawing of a Shopkin on it and a super sweet handwritten note that made me smile.
I recall picking this book up a few times and just not getting hooked in enough to continue. Something drew me to this little gold book again however and it was a great read in the end. Filled with many nuggets of Buddhist concepts that any of us could incorporate into our thinking and our day.
📗Let’s Get Published – Kirsty Ogden
Kirsty is a Brisbane-based publishing expert who supports authors to self-publish their books.
I was fortunate enough to meet Kirsty last year at one of my LinkedIn Local Moreton Bay events and she kindly gifted me her own newly published book which is her playbook and guide to becoming a published author yourself.
The book is thorough and easy to understand, Kirsty has created a great resource for anyone with a story they want to bring to life in published form.
📙Put Yourself Out There – Jane Anderson
Jane is another Brisbane-based powerhouse that specialises in personal branding and marketing. I recall first hearing Jane speak at a networking event 6-7 years ago and she has been a prolific writer and content creator ever since.
Jane has published many books and this latest one is snack-sized but oh-so-satisfying. It includes super practical and easy-to-implement mind hacks to give you the courage to ‘put yourself out there’ more. Highly recommended!
I’d love to know what you’ve been reading over the holidays, or if there is a must-read book that you recommend.
